In conjunction with the opening of her exhibition "Roz Chast: At Home," Roz Chast will be speaking at Carol Corey Fine Art on Saturday, August 14 at 4:00 pm.
The enforced time at home during the COVID-19 lockdown revived Chast’s passion for craft, which she says ”keeps her hands moving and helps quiet her anxiety.” During 2020-21, she created more than 100 pysanky eggs (a Ukrainian wax and dye technique), and a number of textiles (embroideries and hand-hooked rugs). These designs incorporate Chast's inimitable imagery -- characters familiar to her many fans. The exhibition will also include Chast's drawings from the past year, many of which reflect the strange, surreal quality of this period, as well as the nostalgia for our pre-pandemic lives.
